Our own personal nengajō (年賀状)

We are reaching the end of what has been a wonderful year for the Hosoi Ichiba and related companies, and as the snow flies over our islands, and a white coat covers the ground, we would like to reflect a little on the year past and look forward.

At the start of the year we were a fraction of what we have now. Amiryu has been coming up with fantastic new builds that have really caught the attention of our visitors. We now have a major tourist attraction in the Great Wall, and the lands around the walled Ichiba are now filled with villages, gardens and some of the loveliest sights in the Second Life world.

And we have had some really nice compliments from our visitors, who have found their own place for meditation and reflection in the many paths of our islands. Our Machinima Competition was a huge success, and together with the Flickr group really shows how others see the world that we have put together.

We have received some wonderful feedback about the Geisha shows that the Geisha School at Little Yoshiwara put on for us, and we now offer some Japanese Language lessons. We hosted a wonderful Cherry Blossom Festival in aid of the Relay for Life Charity - it was a lot of work, but the concept very much fit the place and what we stand for.

It hasn't been without its frustrations, of course - our quest to find good animators continues, in the hopes that one day we can have fully-functioning Sampans and Rickshaws, but are happy that our sedan chair got completed. The economic downturn has hit everyone in Second Life, of course, which has brought its own few challenges.

So at this turning of the year, we'd like to thank each and every one of you who visited us, talked with us, bought our products, blogged about us, took pictures of the places. We hope you continue to stop by and help create the friendly, positive atmosphere that seems to have grown.

What will the new year hold? Christal Balls are notoriously unreliable, but we hope for many "firsts". We would also like to see more people visiting us who want to be a part of the feel of the place - role-play in a way, but not hardcore. This includes trying to establish a Geisha School - more on that in a future post - and having people who want to spend more SL-time in a traditional Asian environment actually have a place to BE in Second Life. Empty sims, while sometimes pretty, lack the life that we would like to see.

So yoi otoshio omukae kudasai to you and yours from the Management Team at the Hosoi Ichiba!
